About
The Author
Andrew Willis, born in 1959, is a British crime thriller author whose work is defined by grounded investigative detail, emotional depth and character driven storytelling. Based in Boston, Lincolnshire and originally from London, Andrew brings a lived edge shaped by his youth in South London to his writing, creating stories where every clue carries weight and every secret leaves a mark.
His debut novel Angel Heights has been praised and edited for its believable relationships, strong dialogue and a protagonist readers genuinely care about. Away from writing, Andrew divides his time between his family business, his children and grandchildren, and long walks across Lincolnshire with his wife of over forty-four years and their two Cockapoos, Willow and Winnie.
Angel Heights Editor: Lizzie Gray
When Andrew finished Angel Heights, he brought in experienced editor Lizzie Gray. After reviewing the final draft, she offered this summary.
Although Angel Heights is a crime novel, Lizzie felt its strongest themes were unfinished business, grief and legacy. The quieter moments give the story space, showing Hallam as a man whose life extends beyond the investigation.
She noted that the book succeeds where crime fiction matters most: readers care about the detective, and the story keeps them turning pages. She often found she’d read another forty or fifty pages without noticing, not because of relentless pace, but because each chapter leaves just enough unanswered to pull you forward.
By the end, she wasn’t only invested in catching the killer. She genuinely cared about Hallam himself, one of the highest compliments she says she can give any crime novel.
